YOUR FUNDING OPTIONS
Start with the need, then consider the options.
Working capital
Secured or unsecured funding can cover stock, operating costs and other defined trading requirements. The structure should reflect the timing of income and expenditure.
- Seasonal or growth-related cash flow
- One-off requirements or available credit facilities
- Review payment commitments and renewal conditions
Merchant cash advances
An advance linked to future card sales can provide upfront funding. Collection may be linked to agreed sales receipts, but the actual repayment structure is determined by the provider’s contract.
- For eligible businesses taking card payments
- Review the total amount repayable
- Understand collection rates, minimum payments and guarantees
Startup funding
Discuss funding routes for a new business with a clear plan and supporting evidence. Options depend on lender appetite, the proposed use of funds and the applicant’s circumstances.
- Business plans and cash-flow forecasts
- Review founder contribution and funding purpose
- Understand any personal borrowing, guarantees or security
Business credit and trade facilities
Discuss introductions for credit facilities and trade-related requirements. Availability and the appropriate regulatory route depend on the product and applicant.
- Business credit facilities
- Eligible revolving credit and trade requirements
- Provider criteria and regulatory scope checked first
POS machines and payment processing
Explore point-of-sale (POS) machines and card payment processing for countertop, portable and mobile use. We discuss introductions based on how your business trades. These are payment services rather than lending facilities.
- Countertop, portable and mobile terminal requirements
- Review provider charges and settlement arrangements
- Check contractual terms and service requirements
Business bank accounts
Discuss introductions for a business bank account suited to your trading structure and day-to-day banking requirements. The account provider determines eligibility, conducts its checks and sets the terms.
- Business account opening requirements
- Account charges, payment facilities and access needs
- Provider identity and eligibility checks
IS THIS THE RIGHT ROUTE?
Consider the business.
Consider the commitment.
This may suit a business managing a seasonal cycle, increasing stock, taking card payments or preparing a new venture with a clear use for the funds.
Funding availability depends on trading history, credit assessment and provider criteria. Personal guarantees or security may be required. A sales-linked collection arrangement still creates a repayment commitment; startup funding is not guaranteed.
We discuss the proposed terms and charges before you decide whether to proceed. All facilities remain subject to provider criteria, status and credit checks.
HOW YOUR ENQUIRY WORKSOne prepared case.
One named contact.
Our lender network gives us access to over 200 commercial lenders. We approach providers whose criteria fit the enquiry; the number of options available depends on your circumstances.
01Understand the requirement
Tell us what you need to fund, the amount and your preferred timing. We establish the business circumstances before looking at potential routes.
02Prepare the application
We establish the purpose, amount and timing, then request relevant accounts, statements or forecasts. Card-sales funding may require merchant processing information.
03Explain the available terms
We approach suitable providers and explain the proposed costs, security and next steps. You decide whether to proceed; the lender makes the credit decision.

What to know before enquiring.
Can a new business obtain funding?
Potential routes depend on the plan, supporting information, applicant and lender criteria. A startup may have fewer options than an established business. We will explain the available routes without promising approval.
Is a merchant cash advance the same as a monthly repayment loan?
Not necessarily. Collection can be linked to card sales, but the provider’s agreement sets the actual obligations. Compare the total cost and collection terms rather than treating the advance as a standard repayment loan.
Can I enquire if I am unsure which product fits?
Yes. Tell us the purpose, amount and timing of the requirement. We can discuss the relevant categories before preparing the case.
Does business-purpose borrowing always fall outside FCA regulation?
No. The applicant, product and circumstances affect the regulatory position. Fortis does not advise on regulated products; regulated enquiries are introduced to Loan.co.uk Limited.
